Morton Valence

Leytonstone Ex-Servicemens Club, E11 3DB , [Venue Details]

Hi, we're a singing duo called Morton Valence. We are Anne Gilpin and Robert 'Hacker' Jessett.

We term our music 'Urban Country', which is basically, our slightly idiosyncratic take on country music.

The fact that we come from London, where many of our songs are set, gives our interpretation of Americana something of a different twist. But that doesn't mean that what we do isn't authentic, quite the opposite in fact, as all we've ever been is 100% authentically ourselves.

We have just released a new album called 'Morton Valence' on the resurrected and seminal 70’s label Cow Pie Records, working with its founder and veteran pedal steel legend BJ Cole who has produced the record.

"Morton Valence have struck gold" **** UNCUT
“Just about the most intriguing band on these shores” **** The Guardian
“There is no one operating across quite the same terrain as they do” CLASSIC ROCK
“One of the great mysteries of the 21st century is why Morton Valence aren’t better known” **** MOJO MAGAZINE

Hellbound Glory is Leroy Virgil, and has been signed to Shooter Jennings label for the past 5 years. He is the real deal, a true skumbag outlaw country star, and fact fans, he was one of the key influences on the film directors for Bradley Coopers character for “A Star is born” movie.
