Polly Paulusma
Green Note Ltd, Green Note, NW1 7AN , [Venue Details]'When Violent Hot Pitch Words Hurt’, fondly referred to as ‘Pitch’, is POLLY PAULUSMA’s latest sister-album, the title an anagram of ‘The Pivot On Which The World Turns’ which was released in September via One Little Independent folk subsidiary Wild Sound.
Possibly her most vulnerable accompanying piece yet, it reveals early demos, lyric changes, musical alterations, draftings, and even spoken-word origin poems that proceeded the final recordings.
To celebrate the release of ‘Pitch’, Paulusma takes to the road for an intimate midwinter tour, in which she will match the atmosphere of this release with a colourful show of her beautiful songs where the songwriting process is exposed. She will reveal how some of the songs find expressions on different instruments, how she arrived at some of her more bizarre guitar tunings, and even showing deleted sections and revised lyrics to build a picture of a bank of material that has evolved, that is more than the sum of its parts.
For anyone interested in songwriting process and how songs come about this will be a fascinating exposé of a songwriter’s method.
