The Alehouse SessionsSouthbank Centre, Queen Elizabeth Hall Foyer, SE1 8XX, [Venue Details]
Be part of Bjarte Eike’s reimagining of a raucous evening of music and storytelling in a 17th-century English tavern, courtesy of the Alehouse Boys.
It’s 1642 and Oliver Cromwell has shut down the theatres. Where to go for music, dancing and storytelling? The tavern!
The Boys, otherwise known as Barokksolistene, provide the entertainment, playing music by Purcell and Playford, as well as sea shanties and folk songs – all from memory.
The result is a show like no other, which has won awards and rave reviews from sell-out audiences throughout Europe and the US.
